Incepted Projection is a real time immersive installation driven by brainwaves. The data from an Electroencephalography (EEG) headset is collected and analyzed looking for coherent and harmonic patterns. This data is then processed using parallel processing on multiple computers for inter- action optimization of visualization, sonification and spatialization of the data.
The characteristics of EEG data relating to frequency and amplitude over time al- low for translation to sound, geometry and color. The analysis of the different brain- wave states (Delta, Theta, Alpha, Beta, Gamma) are scanned for harmonic and coherent patterns. These resultant patterns then generate the sonic and visual synthesis
within in a virtual space (COSM [6]), which also tracks the user’s location and orientation from a 4 channel IR camera system in the physical volume and maps it to the virtual. The synthesized sound, geometry, position and orientation are finally projected onto and into the physical volume with an 18 channel sound system and 3 LCD projectors. The user now exists in virtual and physical tandem, his/her current perspective and awareness creates an immersive experience whereby they are generating the space around them.
